I am a musician, educator, and arts and animal advocate. I completed my Bachelors of Music Education degree at Louisiana State University in December of 2012 and currently teach Elementary General and Vocal Music in Fulton County at Lake Windward Elementary School in Alpharetta, GA. This is my 9th year of teaching. My primary instruments are Oboe and English Horn, however I also sing and play many wind instruments. I have been performing for over 15 years, and have earned many music and service awards from LSU and the Louisiana community. I am a certified Orff educator, and have completed 3 levels of training, and I am also First Steps in Music certified. I was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia and attended schools in Cobb County. I have two sisters, and very supportive parents and grandparents. I am married to a WONDERFUL man and musician, Ken Kummerfeldt, and we have two beautiful girls, Ruth and Evie. Growing up in a very musically supportive community, I received a extraordinary musical education from the public school systems. I am passionate about seeing high-level music programs in schools, and believe in the ideals of excellent musical education for all.

Teaching PhilosophyMy current philosophy of music education states that every student, regardless of their level or ability, should aim to reach their fullest musical potential, and experience the greatest amount of growth that they are capable of. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to never stop developing as an educator within the field of music, and to continuously grow to help students reach their objectives. Reaching ones fullest potential through music is essential to the development of students in a diverse and constantly changing world. Music trains students to excel and adapt in a stable, but also ever-changing environment. Music provides systematic structure while also fostering independence and creativity for students to make their own musical decisions. Students should have the right to learn this balanced and individualized system and deserve a chance to excel to the highest degree possible.
